Whole-Farm Revenue Protection Crop Insurance

On October 3, USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) announced that premium subsidy levels established for the new Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) crop insurance policy will be in line with the premium subsidies available to producers selecting whole-farm units under the Revenue Protection plans of insurance.  If a farmer has two or more crops and meets the minimum diversification requirement they will receive the higher premium subsidy. Expansion of USDA-Backed Credit Options for Beginning & Family Farmers

Agriculture Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden on 10/07/14 announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will improve farm loans by expanding eligibility and increasing lending limits to help more beginning and family farmers. As part of this effort, USDA is raising the borrowing limit for the microloan program from $35,000 to $50,000; simplify the lending processes; updating required “farming experience” to include other valuable experiences; and expanding eligible business entities to reflect changes in the way family farms are owned and operated.
