Farm Animals Needed for Mpls Public Schools Community Event

Hello! I am a summer intern working with the Minneapolis Public School’s Culinary and Nutrition Services Department and I am helping the Farm to School Coordinator, Andrea Northup, with Minneapolis Public School’s third annual Farm to School Community BBQ on Thursday September 25th from 5:00-7:30pm. As part of our farm to school celebration, we are looking for folks willing to bring farm animals (specifically chickens, turkeys, goats, ducks or cows) to the event for parents and kids to see.  This is a great opportunity to introduce children and their
families to Minnesota farms and farm families and their importance to our community. The Farm to School Community BBQ is free and open to all and includes a meal featuring local ingredients, hands-on activities for children and their families, chef demonstrations and a showcase of our farm to school partner farms. Last year we had almost 1,000 participants celebrating the Farm to School program! If you or anyone you know has an animal to bring to the event, please email me at farm2school@mpls.k12.mn.us. Thanks!
