Current operation:

We are a vegetable farm in Nowthen, MN. We farm about 20 acres, growing for farmers markets and a CSA. This is our 2nd year of doing a CSA and we are hoping to expand from 25 members (2016) to about 75-100 (2017). We care a lot about our soil, the environment, and the consumers who eat the food we grow as we do ourselves. We use compost to put nutrients back into the soil, cover crops to help weed control and to replenish the soil, crop rotation to help with pest control, and keeping the soil fertile. We are not organic, though we do find it important to use very minimal chemicals if necessary and those with a reduced risk to our environment.

Kinds of work interns will perform and any project with which interns would be involved.

  • Planting
  • Weeding
  • Harvesting
  • Washing
  • Packing CSA boxes

  • Help design drip irrigation

  • Organized
  • Must be able to lift 30 to 50 lbs.

Internship timeline:

  • Work would be available from May/June until frost
  • 3 to 5 days per week

Additional information:

We are looking for 1 to 2 interns for 2017. Part of the reason we would love to have an intern on our farm is to be able to learn from each other. We will be able to teach many things on how to grow for market and CSA. We would love if the intern may have ideas to make our farm more sustainable while keeping it profitable.
