Farmers, Food Entrepreneurs Invited to Give Samples at State Fair Healthy Local Food Exhibit

As part of our Healthy Local Food Exhibit at the MN State Fair, Renewing the Countryside invites local food businesses and producers to come hand out samples and/or information about their business/farm to fairgoers. This year our theme is organic so we are looking for interested businesses that use or grow organic food to join us!

Coming to the fair is a great way to advertise your business, farm, or CSA and get consumers interested. This is a purely promotional event, and no sales are allowed due to State Fair regulations. We see on average 15-20,000 people per day at the fair, and it’s a great way to highlight the things you are doing with local food.

Please email me if you are interested or have questions! I’ve included more specific information about the event below.

About the exhibit:

Each year at the exhibit we teach fairgoers about healthy local food choices and why they are important. The exhibit includes chef demos, informational posters and activities, and tables for local farmers and food producers to give out samples and promote their products. This year our theme is organic, and we are specifically looking for samplers who are certified organic. As part of the exhibit, you would attend a three or four-hour time slot for a day of the fair to educate fairgoers about your business, and give out samples and/or information about your product or CSA.

About sampling:

Shifts are everyday from 9am-12pm or 1pm-5pm throughout the fair (August 24th-September 4th). If you sign up for a shift, we provide you a parking spot, ticket to the fair for the day of your sampling, and a volunteer to assist you if you would like. We expect 500-700 people to stop by during each sampling shift. You are expected to bring your own compostable sampling supplies.
