Volunteer with The Food Group’s Fruits of the City Program

With the help of dedicated volunteers, The Food Group’s Fruits of the City Program gleans fresh fruits and produce that are distributed for free to our food shelf partners. The Food Group has an upcoming opportunity to glean surplus apples from a very productive orchard, and we are seeking volunteers to come help harvest! August 19, 2017.

One of our generous orchard partners, Rush City Orchard, is hosting a gleaning event where we can harvest thousands of pounds of fresh, nutritious apples for donation to area food shelves. We need many helpers to make sure the fruit does not go to waste. Everyone is welcome – bring a friend!

The harvest will be on Saturday, August 19, beginning at 10AM and going until we finish (around 2 or 3PM). The orchard is located at 49337 Dogwood Ave, Rush City, MN 55069.

Please respond if you are interested in volunteering as an individual or with a group. For more information, check out our Volunteer Hub page. A flyer for the event is attached.

Bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and sturdy shoes. The Food Group will provide the harvest equipment.
