USDA Extends Application Deadline for Dairy Margin Protection Program to June 22

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the re-enrollment deadline for the Margin Protection Program (MPP) for Dairy will be extended until June 22, 2018. The re-enrollment deadline was previously extended through June 8, 2018. The deadline is being extended a second time to ensure that dairy producers are given every opportunity to make a calculated decision and enroll in the program if they choose. Conservation Reserve Program Enrollment

As part of a 33-year effort to protect sensitive lands and improve water quality and wildlife habitat on private lands, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will resume accepting applications for the voluntary Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Eligible farmers, ranchers, and private landowners can sign up at their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office between June 4 and Aug. 17, 2018. DUNS Number Requirement ENDED for Farmers in NRCS Programs

The rule requiring producers to obtain Data Universal Number System (DUNS) and System for Award Management (SAM) numbers to participate in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs has been eliminated. Congress included this repeal in the FY 2018 Omnibus spending package, USDA’s official regulatory change will be published in the Federal Register on 5/18/18. Wolf-Livestock Conflict Prevention Grants

New money is available to Minnesota livestock producers to help prevent wolf attacks. The Wolf-Livestock Conflict Prevention Grants provide $120,000 for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019).
