FDA Announces Enforcement Discretion for FSMA

The FDA announced today that it intends to exercise enforcement discretion for certain provisions in four of the rules that implement the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). This means that during the enforcement discretion period, the agency does not intend to enforce these provisions as they currently apply to certain entities or activities. 2017 Census of Agriculture is Underway

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has begun mailing the 2017 Census of Agriculture to the nation’s producers. Conducted once every five years, the census aims to get a complete and accurate picture of American agriculture. Census response deadline is February 5, 2018. MDA AgBMP loan program will cover more pollution prevention projects

Under an agreement between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) and the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program in Louisiana, eligibility for loans to implement Agricultural Best Management Practices (AgBMP) in Minnesota will be expanded to include larger livestock operations.  Continue reading ‘MDA AgBMP loan program will cover more pollution prevention projects’

Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) encourages people and groups wanting to protect critical wetlands, agricultural lands and grasslands to consider enrolling their property into conservation easements. This year, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) plans to invest $250 million in technical and financial assistance to help private landowners, tribes, land trusts and other groups protect these valuable lands. Enrollment is Open for ARC or PLC Safety Net Programs

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that starting Nov. 1, 2017, farmers and ranchers with base acres in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) safety net program may enroll for the 2018 crop year. Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Status Update
